This weekend the Division I Razorbacks close out the first semester by hosting #19 Missouri State.  The Bears will enter the weekend with a record of 13-11-2, as the Hogs come in with a record of 7-15-1.  The teams have met eight times in their Division I era with the Bears holding a 5-3 edge over the Hogs. The Razorbacks are 2-2 when playing the Bears at the Jones Center. Puck drop is set for Friday, December 2 at 7:30 PM and Saturday December 3 at 4:30 PM at the Jones Center in Springdale. The Division III Hogs concluded their semester on the road facing the #8 Kansas Jayhawks earlier this month.  On November 17, the Hogs and Jayhawks faced off in the first of a two games set. In the first period, the Razorbacks got on the board first thanks to an unassisted goal by Evan Kerr. In the second period, the Jayhawks answered with a goal of their own. With under five minutes left in the second, Evan Kerr again scored an unassisted goal to give the Hogs the lead. In the first seventeen minutes of the third period both teams were held scoreless. With under three minutes left in the third, rookie Grant Deacon scored for the Hogs and then, just nineteen seconds later, Evan Kerr scored again.  Then, fewer than thirty seconds later, the Hogs would score again on a goal from Matt Lasky en route to a 5-1 win.

In Saturday’s rematch, the Hogs got on the board first thanks to a goal by senior Trey Lowry.  The Jayhawks struck back with two goals to take 2-1 lead entering the second period.  In the second, the Jayhawks scored two more to build on their lead of the Hogs.  About halfway through the second, Evan Kerr scored for the Hogs–his fourth on the weekend. The Razorbacks trailed 4-2 entering the third period but a goal from rookie Grant Deacon cut the deficit to one goal.  That was where things finished, however, and Arkansas dropped game two by a final score of 4-3.  The Division III Razorbacks return to action in the spring semester.

It was a great weekend for both the Division I and Division III Razorbacks as both teams earned sweeps.  The Division I Hogs hosted the #18 Frozen Tide from the University of Alabama this past weekend at the Jones Center. The Hogs came into the weekend looking to avenge a regulation and shootout losses to the Tide earlier this season.

On Friday the Hogs struck first thanks to a goal from the team’s leading scorer, Luc Gradisar.  In the second period, the Tide struck back to knot the game at 1-1. Seven minutes into the third, the Hogs took pulled ahead thanks to a goal from Cory Delisle. During the last minute of the game, Arkansas took an ill-timed penalty and the Tide pulled their goalie to give them a 6-on-4 advantage, but it was not enough and the Hogs held on to win.

Saturday’s contest was also close.  Fewer than four minutes into the first period, the Razorbacks struck first on a goal from senior captain James Haddock. Three minutes later, the Tide answered with a goal of their own but the Razorbacks would go on to score two more goals in the last three minutes of the first period. After the teams traded a pair of goals in the second period, the Hogs led the Tide 5-3 entering the third period. But three minutes into the third period, the Tide cut the Hogs lead to one.  The teams traded another goal apiece and Arkansas earned a 6-5 victory. The win marked the Division I team’s third win in a row and again kept Alabama from winning in Springdale.

For their part, the Division III Ice Hogs traveled to Sioux City, Iowa to tangle with Pacific Region foe Dordt College. After a scoreless first period in Friday’s contest, the Hogs struck in the second period on a goal from Trey Lowry.  Although Dordt would tie the game 1-1 eight minutes later, Arkansas then reeled off three unanswered goals to make it 4-1 halfway through the third period.  Dordt would score the final goal of the game as the Hogs went on to win 4-2.  Saturday’s affair was less competitive.  Although Dordt struck first, the Razorbacks would respond with a total of five unanswered goals en route to a 5-1 win and weekend sweep of the Blades.

This weekend, the Division I Razorbacks continue their home stand as they play host to WCHL conference rivals #14 University of Arizona and Arizona State.  On Thursday at 8:30 pm, the Hogs will host the Wildcats at the Jones Center looking to avenge two close losses earlier in the season in Arizona.  Arizona enters the weekend riding a four game win streak having just swept Utah.

Then, on Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 4:30 pm the Hogs play host to Arizona State.  The Razorbacks will be looking for their first ever win against the Devils.  All three games will be broadcast on YouTube courtesy of Drop the Gloves Radio.  Be on the lookout for a link to the games posted on the team’s Facebook page shortly before face-off.

The #3 Division III Hogs get back on the Road this weekend as they take on the #5 Jayhawks from Kansas. These teams have met three times this season with the Jayhawks winning two of the three games. The Hogs currently hold a 5-6 record all time against the Jay Hawks. They Jayhawks enter the weekend having won five out of their last six games while the Hogs are riding a four game win streak after sweeping their past two opponents. Puck drop is set for 7:40 PM Friday and 2:10 PM Saturday in Independence, MO.

This past weekend, the DI squad played host to defending National Champion and #4 ranked Bronchos of Central Oklahoma, as well as the #21 Oklahoma.  Thursday was a competitive affair.  With eight minutes to play in the third period, the Hogs trailed 2-1.  A defensive breakdown allowed the Bronchos to capitalize and make the score 3-1.  Just one minute later, UCO potted a fourth and went on to to win 4-1.

The close loss foretold good things for the weekend.  On Friday, the Hogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead entering the third period.  Arkansas had difficulty withstanding the Sooners’ surge; fewer than five minutes into the third period the Sooners scored two goals to tie the game.  With under ten minutes to play, OU went to the power play on a controversial unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and capitalized late in the power play.  That goal proved to be the difference-maker and the Sooners notched a 3-2 victory.

The Razorbacks evened things up with Oklahoma on Saturday.  Although Oklahoma scored first and took a 2-1 lead into the lockerroom after the first frame, Arkansas potted a pair of unanswered goals in the second period and led 3-2 entering the third period. During an eventful third period, Arkansas would never trail.  After scoring its fourth goal, the Razorbacks led 4-2.  The final five minutes saw the teams combine for three goals–an empty-netter from Arkansas, a power-play marker from Oklahoma, and an additional even-strength goal for Oklahoma en route to a 5-4 Arkansas win.

The DI Razorbacks return home to face arch-rival #18 University of Alabama.  The Tide are the only other SEC school that field a Division 1 team. Since moving to the Division I level, the Hogs own a 3-1-1 series edge over Alabama.  The Hogs lone stumbles against the Tide came earlier this season when Arkansas traveled to Alabama.  After dropping game one by a score of 5-2, the teams battled to a 2-2 stalemate that produced a shootout win for Alabama.

The Tide have not lost since that weekend and enter the weekend on a six-game winning streak sporting an overall record of 7-1-0.  Both games will take place at the Jones Center in Springdale. Friday night’s puck drop is set for 7:30 PM while Saturday’s matinee tilt starts at 12:30 PM.  Both games will be televised by Drop the Gloves Radio.  Be on the lookout for a link to the games on the team’s Facebook page closer to game time.

Meanwhile, the Division III Razorbacks travel to Sioux City, IA to face Dordt College this weekend.  Dordt enters the weekend with an overall 2-9 record, while the Razorbacks come in at 10-5 overall.  These teams have met four times previously and the Hogs own a lifetime record of 3-0-1.  The Division III Razorbacks enter the series having won five out of their last six games.  Puck drop for Friday is set for 7:30 PM while puck drop on Saturday is set for 1:15 PM at Dordt.

This past weekend, while the Division I Razorbacks enjoyed a bye week, the Division III Ice Hogs took their talents to Little Rock to face SECHC opponent Mississippi State University. The Ice Hogs and Bulldogs played their first of two games on Friday night at the Arkansas Skatium. The Razorbacks started the game strong scoring a total of eight goals in the first period. In that period, both Trey Lowry and Brooks Moore scored two goals. The Hogs piled on seven more goals in the second period where Brooks Moore and Aiden Everett each scored two goals. The Hogs would add four more goals in the third period. The Ice Hogs collected a 19-0 victory and goalie Alex Kalmes posted a shutout.

In the second game of the series on Saturday, the Bulldogs got on the board less than a minute into the contest. The Razorbacks would go on to answer with eight goals of their own in the first period. The Hogs went on to score three more goals in the second period as Jake Sharrer contributed two goals. The Hogs poured in eight more goals in the third period when Matt Tallo and Zach Hale scored two goals.  The Division III Razorbacks are off this weekend.

After a bye week, the Division I Razorbacks return home to begin a 10 game home stretch to finish out the semester. The home stand begins with hosting WCHL rivals the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos as well as the Sooners from the University of Oklahoma.  On Thursday, November 2nd at 8:30 PM, the Hogs will tangle with the defendant National Champion and the #5 ranked Bronchos from UCO. The Razorbacks will be looking to avenge the two losses the Bronchos handed them earlier this season in Edmond, OK.

Then on Friday, November 3^rd at 7:00 PM, and Saturday, November 4^th at 4:30 PM, the Razorbacks will host the #19 ranked Sooners from the University of Oklahoma as they look to avenge a 2-5 loss against the Sooners earlier this season in Oklahoma City.  All three games will be played at the Jones Center in Springdale and all three games will also be broadcast on the Drop the Gloves YouTube channel.  Keep an eye on the program’s social media closer to the time of the games for the link for the broadcast.

This past weekend the Division I Razorbacks finished up their grueling fall travel schedule. The Razorbacks traveled to Ames, IA to take on the 12^th ranked Cyclones of Iowa State University. The Cyclones handled the Razorbacks in the first game Friday night, posting a 7-0 victory.  Game two was a different story.  Although Iowa State carried a 3-0 lead into the third period, the Razorbacks battled back in the final frame with a pair of goals.  The Division I return home next weekend for league play against UCO and Oklahoma.

While the Division 1 Hogs were on the road, the red-hot Division III Razorbacks were at home this weekend playing host to the Jayhawks from the University of Kansas. The first game between the two was played on Friday night at the Jones Center. With less than one minute remaining in the first period the Jayhawks were on the board first. In the second period, rookie Triston Wilson tied the game up for the Razorbacks.  Kansas and Arkansas would remain tied through regulation.  But during the 4-on-4 overtime period, Matt Lasky notched the game winner about halfway through the five-minute period.

Then, on Saturday, the Jayhawks took an early lead on the Hogs–notching two goals in the opening period.  The Hogs were able to tie the game behind goals from Alex Kueser and Matt Lasky. The Jayhawks would go on to score three goals late in the second period to lead the Hogs 5-2 going into the third period. Early in the third Matt Lasky scored his second goal of the game to cut the Jayhawk lead to two. The Hogs ended up falling to the Jayhawks 6-3 and split the weekend with Kansas.

This weekend, the Division III Razorbacks travel to the State Capital to face the Bulldogs of Mississippi State University in an SECHC conference matchup.  While in Little Rock, the Hogs will call the Arkansas Skatium (1311 S Bowman Rd, Little Rock, AR 72211) their temporary home. The Razorbacks enter the weekend with a record of 8-5, while the Bulldogs enter the weekend winless. The Razorbacks have dominated the lifetime series with MSU 7-0.  The two teams have not met since 2015 when the Razorbacks walloped the Bulldogs 18-3.

This past weekend the Division One Ice Hogs were on the road in Arizona. On Thursday October 12, 2017, the team faced #20 Sun Devils from Arizona State University. The Hogs got on the board early in the first period thanks to a goal from senior captain James Haddock, assisted by captain Landyn Howze. By the end of the first period the Sun Devils had evened things up 1-1. In the second period the Sun Devils managed to ring up three more goals against the Ice Hogs making the score 4-1 going into the third period. Ultimately the Hogs fell to the Sun Devils 5-1.

On Friday, October 13, the Hogs played their first of two games on the weekend against the  #16 Wildcats from the University of Arizona. It was all Wildcats in this one until 7:56 in the second period when senior captain James Haddock scored his second goal of the weekend to make the score 3-1, he was assisted by Cal Owens. With under a minute left in the second, the Hogs were on the board again thanks to the team’s leading scorer Luc Gradisar.  Gradisar was assisted by Cory Delisle. Although the Hogs trailed the Wildcats 3-2 entering the third period, the Wildcats were able to score two more goals in the third period to secure a 5-2 win.

On Saturday October 14, 2017, the Division I Hogs played their final game of the weekend against the Wildcats from Arizona.  The Razorbacks were on the board first thanks to a goal by senior captain Jacob Brown, assisted by newcomer Sine Chadi. The Wildcats then responded with two goals of their own. With fewer than five minutes left in the first, Jacob Brown tied things up for the Hogs on an unassisted goal and his second of the night. The Wildcats would get on the board first in the second period–leading the Hogs 3-2. The Hogs answered back with two goals of their own in the second period. Goals by junior captain Collin Young and the team’s leading scorer Luc Gradisar gave the Hogs a 4-3 lead going into the third period. But the Wildcats dominated the third period–scoring four more goals. The Hogs cut into the three goal deficit with one minute remaining in the game thanks to a goal by Luc Gradisar, assisted by Cory Delisle. The Hogs fell to the Wildcats 7-5.  The Division I Razorbacks return to action this weekend in Ames, Iowa, against the Iowa State University Cyclones.

The Division III Ice Hogs were back at home this past weekend facing the Bears from Missouri State University. The Hogs had revenge on their mind after losing to the Bears earlier this season in the Pacific Region Showcase. On Friday October 13th, the Hogs played their first of two games for the weekend against the Bears at the Jones Center. The Hogs got on the board first in the first period thanks to a goal scored by Matt Lasky, assisted by Trey Lowry and senior captain Andrew DeNome. The Hogs again got on the board in the first thanks to a goal by Trey Lowry, assisted by Matt Lasky and Andrew DeNome. Less than a minute into the second period Matt Lasky scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Zach Palmer and Trey Lowry. The Hogs won the game against the Bears 3-0 as rookie goalie Jozsef Dusenka recorded his first shutout of the season.

On Saturday, October 14th, the Hogs faced the Bears for their second game of the weekend at the Jones Center. The Hogs came into the game looking to continue their hot streak from the night before. After a scoreless first frame, Arkansas scored the first goal of the game with two minutes left in the period.  Then, just before the end of the period, the Hogs were on the board again thanks to a last minute goal by Zach Palmer. Then just two minutes into the third period, Brooks Moore put the Hogs on the board again giving them a 3-0 lead.  Four minutes later, Trey Lowry scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Zach Piekarski. Less than a minute later, Matt Lasky scored his third goal of the season, assisted by Andrew DeNome, to push the Arkansas lead to 5-0. For the second night in a row, rookie goalie Jozsef Dusenka recorded a shutout for the Ice Hogs.

The Division III Razorbacks return home tomorrow to face the Kansas Jayhawks.

The Division III Razorbacks return home this weekend to host the Bears of Missouri State University. The Hogs and Bears met earlier this season in the Pacific Region Showcase, where the Bears won 3-1.  The Hogs the weekend with a record of 5-4 after having split a pair of games against Nebraska.  For its part, Missouri State arrives with an overall record of 6-3-0 after having swept a pair of close games last weekend against Creighton. All time, the Razorbacks own a 15-8 lifetime series edge over the Bears.

The Razorbacks’ first game against the Bears will take place on Friday October 13^th at 9:15 PM at the Jones Center in Springdale. Puck drop for the second game is set for Saturday October 14^th at 7:30 PM at the Jones Center.

The Division I Hogs are back on the road, this time to Arizona this weekend to take on the 16th ranked Wildcats from the University of Arizona and the 18th ranked Sun Devils from Arizona State University.  Both are WCHL conference rivals.

On Thursday October 12th, the Razorbacks will face the Sun Devils of Arizona State University. The Razorbacks will be looking for their first-ever win against the Sun Devils as they are 0-3-0 all time against them. Puck drop is set for 8:00 PM (MST) against the Sun Devils. The Sun Devils enter the game with a record of 2-4-0 this season.

On Friday October 13th at 7:00 PM (MST) and Saturday October 14th at 1:15 PM (MST) the Razorbacks will face the Wildcats of the University of Arizona. The teams met three times last season and the Wildcats hold an edge in the series at 2-1-1. The Hogs will look to hand the Wildcats their first loss as they enter the weekend with an undefeated record of 3-0-0.

The Division I Razorbacks played their first home games this past weekend at the Jones Center. On Thursday the Razorbacks hosted the 12^th ranked Buffaloes from the University of Colorado.  The Buffaloes entered the game with a record of 3-1 and started the contest strong, scoring two goals in the first period. The Hogs got on the board in the second period thanks to a goal from Assistant Captain Landyn Howze but the Buffs cruised to a 6-1 win.

On Friday, the Razorbacks played host to the 17^th ranked Rams of Colorado State in the first of a two game series. The Rams entered this series with a record of 2-3. The Rams struck first, scoring a goal in the first period. The second period was scoreless as the Rams held onto their 1-0 lead entering the third period. The Razorbacks finally struck back at the end of the third period with the goaltender, Rio Virgoe, pulled and tied the game up at 1-1.  Thanks to that late marker by Chris Stovall, the teams entered a death overtime where Luc Gradisar scored the game-winning goal, giving the Hogs their first WCHL conference victory of the season.

On Saturday, the Razorbacks again played host to the Rams of Colorado State. The Rams scored early and led the Hogs 1-0 at the end of the first period. In the second period the Rams again scored a goal and took a 2-0 lead. Arkansas finally got on the board in the second period thanks to a goal by Chris Stovall.  Later in the second period, the Hogs tied the game thanks to a goal from Assistant Captain Collin Young.  At the end of the second period the score was all tied up at 2-2.  One minute into the third period, Chris Stovall broke the tie by scoring the eventual game winner during 4-on-4 play thanks to a pair of early period penalties.  The Division I team’s 3-2 win over CSU marked the program’s first ever sweep of a WCHL opponent.  The DI Hogs travel to Arizona to tangle with conference foes University of Arizona and Arizona State.

Meanwhile, the Division III Ice Hogs got on the road this weekend to Omaha, NE to take face the Cornhuskers of the University of Nebraska. After having beaten the Razorbacks earlier this season in the Pacific Region Showcase, the Cornhuskers entered the series against the Razorbacks with an undefeated 5-0 record.

During the Friday tilt, the Huskers dominated the first two periods and held a 2-0 entering the third period. But the Razorbacks caught fire in the third period. Five minutes into the third period, Arkansas got on the board thanks to an unassisted goal by rookie Grant Deacon. Two minutes later, fellow rookie Jeffery Sands scored the game tying goal.  Then, with under four minutes left in the game, the team’s leading scorer on the season, Alex Kueser, scored the go-ahead goal for the Hogs giving them a 3-2 lead over the Huskers.  Finally, with under a minute left in the game, Kueser potted an empty net marker to earn the Hogs a critical 4-2 win.

Saturday afternoon, the Division III team again faced the Huskers for the second game in the two game weekend series. During the first period, it was all Huskers as Nebraska jumped out to a 2-0 lead. In the second period, the Hogs sprung to life thanks to a goals from Zach Palmer and Alex Kueser.  With the game tied entering the third period, Nebraska pulled ahead on a pair of goals en route to a 4-2 win.

The Division III Hogs will return home this weekend to face rival Missouri State.

This weekend the Division I Ice Hogs will play their first home games of the season.  Thursday October 5^th the Ice Hogs will play the #12 ranked Buffaloes from the University of Colorado. On Friday October 6^th and Saturday October 7^th the Ice Hogs will be playing the #17 ranked Rams of Colorado State University.

Thursday October 5^th the Razorbacks will play the Buffaloes at 8:30 PM at the Jones Center in Springdale, AR. The Buffs enter the weekend with a record of 3-1. The Division I Hogs have played the Buffaloes seven times dating back to 2015 and own a record of 1-6 against them. The Hogs will be looking to defend  home ice against Colorado after the Buffs came to the Jones Center and swept the Hogs in 2016-17.  Thursday is also Pink the Rink where the Razorbacks are teaming up with the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority in raising awareness for breast cancer, so make sure to wear your pink!  There will be a special edition of chuck-a-puck during the intermission where all of the proceeds will go to helping fight and cure breast cancer.  Pucks will be sold at $5 a piece and there will be a prize rewarded to the person who chucks their puck the closest to center ice!  A limited number of fans will also receive complimentary Pink the Rink jerseys on a first come first served basis.

Then, on Friday October 6^th, the Arkansas plays host to Colorado State at 7:30 pm in the first of a pair of weekend games.  The Rams enter the weekend with a record of 2-2 having just dropped a pair of games to Utah and Eastern Michigan after opening their season with a sweep of Rutgers. The Hogs have yet to beat the Rams in the teams’ three prior meetings.  Arkansas will be looking to avenge a 3-0 home ice loss to the Rams during the 16-17 season.  In appreciation for all of their support, the Razorbacks will recognize the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas during Friday night’s contest.  The weekend closes on Saturday night when the Hogs again take on the Rams at 7:30 PM.  All three of the Division I Hogs games will be live streamed via the teams Facebook page through Facebook Live.

Also this weekend, the red hot Division III Ice Hogs (4-3-0) will be on the road to Lincoln, NE to take on the Cornhuskers from the University of Nebraska.  Arkansas enters the weekend on a four game win streak.  Nebraska sports a win streak of its own, having notched five consecutive victories.  The two teams met once already in the Pacific Region Showcase where Nebraska claimed a 6-5 win on September 17.  The Razorbacks and Cornhuskers have faced off nine times in the past and Nebraska owns 5-4 series edge.  The first game takes place at 7:00 PM Friday October 6^th in Nebraska.  Puck drop for the second game is set for 11:45 AM Saturday October 7^th.

The Division I Hogs were on the road this weekend. They traveled to Oklahoma to face conference opponents, University of Oklahoma and University of Central Oklahoma.

On Thursday September 28th the Hogs played the Sooners from the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City where all of the goals came in the 3rd period.  With eighteen minutes to go, the Hogs broke a scoreless game open with a power play goal from Luc Gradisar.  Arkansas held the lead until the Sooners tied the game on a power play marker of their own at the ten minute mark.  Just twenty-one seconds later, Oklahoma scored the go-ahead goal to make it 2-1.  The third and fourth Sooner goals came in the closing eight minutes.  Although James Haddock notched a second marker for Arkansas, the Sooners would add an empty net goal in the closing seconds en route to a 5-2 victory.

On Friday, September 29th, the Hogs went to Edmond, OK to play their first of two games that weekend against the defending National Champion Bronchos from University of Central Oklahoma. At the end of the first period the Hogs trailed the Bronchos 3-2. Alex DeGuire and true freshman Chris Salmon scored for the Razorbacks during the first period. The second period saw the Bronchos put three more on the board while Chris Stovall potted one for the Hogs.  Although Arkansas won the final frame, UCO earned a 6-4 victory.

On Saturday, September 30th, the Hogs again faced the Bronchos in Edmond, OK.  After playing the Bronchos tight for two periods, UCO broke the game open in the third period thanks in part to five third period Arkansas penalties.  Looking back on the weekend, Alex DeGuire, Chris Salmon, and James Haddock all scored their first goals of the season.  Cory Delisle and Shaun Foster each finished the weekend with three assists.  Not only did Alex DeGuire score his first goal this weekend, but he also added two assists as well.

The Division III Hogs traveled to Olive Branch Mississippi this past weekend looking to continue their hot streak from the previous weekend. While in Olive Branch, the Hogs faced SEC conference opponents University of Mississippi and Vanderbilt University.

On Saturday September 30th the Hogs played the Rebels of Ole Miss. After two periods the Ice Hogs led the Rebels 2-0 off of goals from Alex Kueser and Trey Lowry. The Rebels struck back in the third period making the score 2-1. The Hogs finished the third period on fire — scoring three unanswered goals thanks to Alex Kueser, Zach Palmer, and Matt Hehr. The Razorbacks earned a 5-1 win and its third consecutive victory.

Sunday morning, October 1st, Arkansas faced the Commodores from Vanderbilt and jumped out to a big lead.  Goals by Matt Hehr in the first, and Grant Deacon in the second period had the Razorbacks leading the Dores 2-0 entering the third period.  Arkansas broke the game open in the final frame behind a hat trick from Alex Kueser alongside third period markers from Trey Lowry and Garrett Jackson.  The 7-2 blowout marked the DIII squad’s fourth consecutive victory.  The star of the weekend for Arkansas was Alex Kueser who scored 5 goals and added three assists in the team’s conference victories.
