This past weekend, the Division I Ice Hogs (4-8-0) went on the road to face arch-rival Alabama. On Friday the Hogs and Crimson Tide faced off in Pelham, AL. The first period was all Crimson Tide as they took a 4-0 lead into the second. Alabama would go on to add two more in the second before Cory Delisle got the Hogs on the board (assisted by Chris Salmon). Alabama would go on to score one more before the end of the second to lead 7-1 going into the third. Veteran Collin Young got the Hogs on the board again in the third, assisted by rookie Dakota Gottlieb. The Tide scored two more goals and cruised to a 9-2 win.
The Hogs faced the Tide again on Saturday. The Tide scored two goals through the first forty minutes and added two more in the third period. Arkansas got on the board in the third period thanks to a goal from Chris Stovall, but the Razorbacks lost 4-1 to the Tide.
This weekend the Division I Hogs return home to face a pair of WCHL conference rivals — Colorado and Colorado State. The three-game weekend begins Thursday evening at 7:15 pm when the Hogs take on the Colorado State Rams (3-6-0). The Hogs and Rams have met six times and the Rams hold an all-time 4-2 edge. The Rams enter the weekend having lost their last four games.
On Friday, November 2, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, November 3 at 12:00 pm, Hogs will face Colorado (3-7-0). These teams have met ten prior times. Colorado controls the historic edge with a 9-1 record.
The University of Arkansas fields two hockey teams. The Division I team recently released its 2018-19 schedule (view here). It has, since 2015, competed in the Western Collegiate Hockey Conference (learn more here). All home games are played at The Jones Center for Families in Springdale.
