This past weekend the Division I Ice Hogs (11-23-0) traveled to Springfield to face the #14 Ice Bears of Missouri State. The Hogs faced the Bears for the third time this season on Friday the 15th. Missouri State got on the board less than a minute into the game. And, just five minutes later, they found the net again. Seven minutes later, Evan Kerr got the Hogs on the board and cut the Bears lead in half. It was all Ice Bears in the second period as they scored two more goals and led the Hogs 4-1 going into the third period. Late in the third period, though, Alex Kueser scored to bring the Hogs within two goals (assisted by Evan Kerr). With under a minute left in the game, Cam McAtee scored to bring the Hogs within one goal (assisted by Collin Young). Arkansas ended up dropping a close game 1 to the Ice Bears by a final 4-3 score.
On Saturday, the Razorbacks squared off against the Ice Bears for the final time this season. The first period was relatively quiet as Cam McAtee scored his second goal of the weekend to put the Hogs up 1-0 with about a minute left to play (assisted by Chris Stovall and Andy Williams). The Bears answered with a goal of their own at about the halfway point of the second period. Five minutes later, Evan Kerr assisted Cam McAtee on his second goal of the game to regain the lead for the Hogs. With under thirty seconds left in the period, though, the Ice Bears tied things back up at 2-2.
Then, about halfway through the final frame, the Bears took their first lead of the game. Two minutes later, Josh Staenz scored an unassisted goal to tie things right back up. At the end of regulation, the game was tied at three. With one second left in overtime Chris Stovall assisted Cam McAtee on the game-winning goal as McAtee completed the hat-trick. The final score was 4-3 Ice Hogs.
