DI hosts SIUE; DIII heads to SECHC tournament

This weekend the Division I Ice Hogs (8-22-0) will be at home this weekend looking to bounce back after five straight home losses. Tonight, Friday, February 8, 2019, the Division I Ice Hogs will host Division II Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (16-10-0).

The Razorbacks will be looking to end not only their losing streak but also SIU-E’s winning streak. SIU-E comes into the weekend having won their last eight games. Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM Friday night and 5:00 PM Saturday evening at the Jones Center in Springdale. On Saturday night, the Division I team will be recognizing their seniors as part of senior night. You can watch the DI games here.

Meanwhile, the #5 ranked DIII Ice Hogs (13-12-0) will be on the road again this weekend as they head to Nashville to participate in the SECHC Tournament. The Hogs look to defend their conference championship from a season ago when the team notched the program’s sixth SECHC title en route to ending the season at the Division III National Tournament. The Hogs will face the #18 ranked Gators from Florida in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Friday at 8:45 PM. Should they win, the Hogs would tangle in the semi-finals with the winner of the Tennessee vs. Georgia game (see the full tournament bracket here). Should the Hogs make it, the Championship game takes place on Sunday. You can watch all of the SECHC Tournament games at www.facebook.com/penaltyboxradio.

The University of Arkansas fields two hockey teams.  The Division I team’s 2018-19 schedule is here. It has, since 2015, competed in the Western Collegiate Hockey Conference (learn more here). All home games are played at The Jones Center for Families in Springdale.
