Justin Goad

Goalie Coach Justin Goad returns for his third season with the Razorbacks in 2024-25. In his role, Coach Goad will work closely with the goalies from both teams on and off the ice to help them grow and succeed. He relies on a “chaotic approach” when it comes to coaching goaltending, utilizing the concept of continuous action while focusing on the small details. A foundation to his approach is training each goalie specifically to what works best for them to allow their game to develop the way they want.
Coach Goad brings a wealth of coaching and hockey experience to the programs on ice staff. He began his hockey career at the age of 10, playing at all levels of travel, college, and a brief stint in the minor professional ranks. He has been coaching youth, high school, and college hockey for the past twenty years, coaching goalies who have played in the Olympics, NCAA and ACHA, top tier juniors, and professional hockey.
Coach Goad holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics as well as Organization Change Management. He also holds a MBS in Project Management and a Masters in Public Affairs. Outside of the rink, Coach Goad enjoys spending time with his amazing wife Rebecca and his son Logan, who loves soccer.

Greg Betzold

The 2024-2025 season marks Head Coach Greg Betzold’s first coaching at the college level and first with Arkansas hockey. Coach Betzold will serve as Head Coach for the DIII team as well as Director of Player Development for the program, working with both teams in that capacity.

Before starting a career in coaching, Greg dedicated his whole life to playing hockey at a high level. Born in a small town in Ohio, Greg paved his own way playing high school hockey at Shattuck St. Marys, to later playing four seasons for the Peterborough Petes in the OHL, and finally playing his last five seasons with various teams in the ECHL. Greg attended two NHL development camps with the St. Louis Blues in 2013 and 2014 and was named ECHL player of the month in March 2019.

Greg transitioned his role from player to coach two years ago. Since making the transition he has become the Head of Player Development for NWAHA and founder of NWA Elite Hockey. Greg is passionate about growing elite level hockey in Northwest Arkansas and believes all of his experiences playing around North America will make him a valuable asset for the University of Arkansas hockey.
