On Friday and Saturday, January 27 & 28, the DI Razorbacks welcome the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville (17-4-0) to the Jones Center for just the second time. Puck drop on Friday night is at 8:00 pm and Saturday’s contest begins at 4:00 pm.
The Lynx arrive in Arkansas boasting some impressive numbers. Despite being just third-year members of the ACHA, Lindenwood-Belleville has amassed a cumulative record of 65-11-3. Having outscored opponents in their inaugural 14-15 campaign 236-45, the Lynx posted similarly impressive offensive numbers again last season (206-67). They are once again pushing similar numbers during the 2016-17 campaign (126-54). The Lynx are a perfect 6-0 over the Razorbacks in the past two seasons.
For their part, the DI Hogs enter the weekend having dropped two games against #16 Midland last weekend. After falling behind 4-0 in the first half of game 1 last Friday, Arkansas capitalized on the power play to make it 4-1. The teams would then trade a pair of goals each en route to a 6-3 Razorback loss. On Saturday, Midland broke an exciting 3-3 game at the 8:10 mark of the second period to pull ahead 4-3. One goal quickly turned to three and the Hogs found themselves trailing 6-3 by the end of the period. The teams would trade goals in a penalty-filled third period, which produced a 7-4 final score in favor of Midland.
Meanwhile, the DIII Razorbacks get on the road for a two-game set against Kansas University. The Hogs and Jayhawks meet at 7:40 pm in Independence, Missouri, on Friday night and complete their series at 2:15 pm on Saturday. Arkansas enters the weekend again having recently defeated and tied the Dordt Blades in their two-game set last weekend, whereas Kansas just swept Creighton last weekend in 6-4 and 8-5 victories.
