The Razorback Hockey team is pleased to announce two more commits for the 2019-20 season: F-Kyle Patterson and D-Joe Schroeder. Both come from the St. Louis, MO area.
Kyle Patterson, a Wentzville, MO native, comes to Arkansas after completing his youth hockey career with the Chesterfield Falcons and Timberland High School. The 5’10” 160 lbs. right-shooting forward Patterson contributed 1 goal and 2 assists with Chesterfield in 15 games and 11 goals and 6 assists with Timberland in 11 games. In 2017-18, Patterson tallied 10 goals and 9 assists in 21 games for Timberland High School, while also posting 4 goals and 13 assists in 57 games with the St. Louis AIC Prospects U18.
Patterson plans to earn a degree in mechanical engineering starting in the fall. When asked about his love for hockey, he commented, “Hockey is special to me because I think that it is the greatest and hardest sport to play in the world.” Regarding his commitment to the University of Arkansas, Patterson said, “I chose Arkansas because it gave me the chance to play for a great hockey program while going to a big school with a good engineering program.”
Joe Schroeder joins Razorback hockey after finishing up his youth hockey career with CarShield AAA 18U and Westminster Christian Academy. Schroeder is a 5’7” 170 lbs. right-shot mobile defenseman who contributed 4 goals and 13 assists in 24 games with Westminster in 2018-19, helping them qualify for the Wickenheiser Cup playoffs.
Schroeder, who plans on studying agricultural business, stated, “I chose the University of Arkansas because I know I can get a good education here and I love SEC football. With regard to his love for hockey, Schroeder said, “Hockey requires a team effort to succeed and it’s a unique game that takes skill and toughness to play.”
The University of Arkansas Men’s Hockey team plays in the Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference. The 2019-20 season will be the team’s thirteenth season as a member of the ACHA competing in Division III. The team’s schedule can be found here.
